What’s Changing This Year?
This year, YSIC will be hosted online! Your souvenir YSIC drawstring bag containing all required materials will be delivered to your door (either by contactless delivery for $5 or for $30 for shipping to non-Edmonton residents).
You also have the option to compete as an individual or with a partner. If competing with a partner, both partners must be physically together. There is no advantage to competing as either an individual or in partners.
YSIC aims to bring two critical concepts to its participants.
#1: Integration of the Arts into STEM fields
To promote a more creative and holistic approach to learning, YSIC is a team competition in which students complete a series of challenges based upon Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM). All of our challenges have been designed to include a minimum of two of the five pillars.
#2: Thinking Outside the Box
YSIC is structured in an open-ended manner, with a scoring system designed to credit the most innovative and original solutions. All YSIC challenges are designed to have multiple correct solutions.
