About the Event

Join us for an exciting two-day event at the University of Alberta, hosted by the TeamUP Science student group. The Interdisciplinary Science Competition (ISC) offers high school students from across the province the unique opportunity to compete in hands-on, university-level labs. This year we will have labs covering molecular biology, computer science, and organic chemistry! All materials and meals will be provided during the event.

Event Highlights:

  • Competitions: Register as an individual or in pairs to work in university-style laboratories, testing your critical thinking and interdisciplinary skills across organic chemistry, molecular biology, and computer science.

  • Workshops & Keynote Speaker: Participate in engaging workshops, network at our student mixer, and hear from an undergraduate immunology honours student as she shares her research, lab experience, and academic journey.

  • Central Case Project: Apply the knowledge you gained throughout the event to solve an overarching scientific question, collaborating with peers from multiple fields.

  • Prizes: Win awards for top lab scores, the best central case, highest aggregate score, and many more. More than $750 is given away as awards!
