Computer Science Workshop (Intermediate)

The Computer Science Workshop is CANADA-WIDE, online event, running as a weekend session spanning October 16 to November 6 2022 for a total of 3 weekends. This event is open to junior high school students, high school students, university students, and anyone else who wishes to pick up a hobby or some skills in coding. The workshop will feature a beginner class (which runs on Saturday sessions from 10AM-1PM) and an intermediate class (which will run on Sunday sessions from 10AM-1PM). Throughout CSW, students will apply their learning to create a final coding project.
The intermediate lessons are intended for participants with past experience in Computer Science. In the intermediate session, participants will use Java to create a graphical user interface (GUI). On November 6, participants will be able to meet a diverse range of experienced guest speakers and share their final project with their classmates to have a chance to win prizes for their projects!
The entire workshop is led and ran by undergraduate students in the Computer Science program at the University of Alberta who are experienced with the Python and Java language and are enthusiastic about teaching! The entire workshop curriculum is based off the Alberta Education curriculum. The cost of the event is $15 which will give you access to ALL 4 weekends. While attendance at all 4 sessions is strongly encouraged, you can still register even if you can't attend all sessions.
We also provide busaries, which reimburse the ticket cost (more information is provided following registration).
